One officer claimed they were "just waiting on a tow truck." I said ok and began walking back to my home. I was immediately run down as I casually walked back to my home by one of the officers and treated like a criminal. He demanded to know my address, what I was doing in the area, requested my ID and repeatedly asked me if that was my car in an agressive tone and told me not to get smart with him when I said "Officer, I was just trying to help. I live right there." I felt the need to call in and file a report as this behavior was completely unnecessary.
Great guys who do an excellent job for the community.
Thank you for taking the time to read this review and hopefully you are reading this because you dealt with an officer like Kyle and are here to explain what a good experience it was.
This is not meant to be a bad review as every organization has its bad seeds. I could have mentioned the officer's name that handled this situation so unprofessionally but antagonism is not my intent.
At first, I had HAD IT with the treatment I had received from two officers that were searching the park in my neighborhood after being rudely targeted and spoken to in unreasonably harsh tones. I simply saw them roaming around a black vehicle and asked them if they needed help.
(This is during the 4/3/13 Amber alert where two kids have been kidnapped and suspected in being inside a black vehicle)
The TTPD has a lot of very overzealous officers who are quick to make it sound like you're a criminal. I was taking pictures of City Hall one day when an officer came out to see what I was doing. He then radioed for four(!) backup cops to help him check me out and then accuse me of taking the pictures to help "blow up City Hall." Don't worry...in the event that City Hall does blow up, he took down my information because I'd be "the first person on their suspect list." All of this because I was taking pictures!
I had filed a complaint against an officer for questioning me in a rude and unprofessional manner and voiced it via 911 as the number is wrong for non-emergency calls on google. Officer Kyle Smith came by my house and was extremely professional, cool, calm and collected and heard me out through the entirety of my story.
One hour later with the illusion that something was going to be done about my issue (as the officer assured me), He actually left without saying anything to anyone. Had to wait on the bench and speak to the speaker box and wait for these two officers to come out and tell me that the first one lied to me and just wanted to go home and basically tough luck. Oh boy, let you have a broken tail light and TTPD will be further up your YAHOO than an enema! Get scammed out of hundreds... welp TUFF COOKIES!
If I could give a negative 5 stars to these lazy/awful officers in this dept I would do it 100 times! I guess one should ever come during a shift change asking for help with a report . You sit on some wired bench and wait after you speak to that receptionist with ZERO people skills through a box ! I had an officer come out and take a report and he told me he would pass it on to the next shift and to come back in an hour because he was on his way out.
I had an officer show up and really clear up my discrepancy and am glad to see that the Temple Terrace Police are trained well, personable and are there to help you as citizens of this town, even if it is in regards to a complaint against their fellow staff. Officer Smith handled himself very well and actually thanked me for calling it in and stated that "not enough people call in."
